What are good carbs? The Good & Bad explained
December 30, 2008
First there is no such thing as a “good” carb or a “bad” carb. There is a carb that can help you lose weight and there are carbs that can make it harder for you to lose weight.
And realistically speaking MOST people eat too many of the carbs that are not helping their weight loss efforts.
What happens when you eat carbs like this in excess?
Your blood sugar will rise and your body then produces something called insulin to process that rise in blood sugar level. Without going into the technical process when insulin is secreted it causes fat storage.
If you can eat carbs that do not produce an insulin spike and trigger fat storage then your weight loss efforts wont be sabatoged. The problem for most people is researching the proper food and food combinations without paying for an expensive nutritionist.
I will give you a small list here of some common foods that you should eat or avoid.
Foods That Will Spike Your Insulin And Cause Fat Storage:
Honey, Candies, Any refined sugars, White breads, Watermelon dates
Foods That Do Not Cause A Drastic Insulin Spike:
Wholegrain Bread, kidney beans, frozen grean peas, plums, whole milk
